All Disney parks around the world except one are now open to visitors, though Covid-19 restrictions remain in place. Disneyland Resort in California reopened on April 30, 2021 with limited capacity at Disneyland park and Disney California Adventure park.
Considering this, do you have to wear a mask at Disneyland today?
Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 2 and older), regardless of vaccination status, in certain indoor settings including Disney shuttles and in health settings, such as in First Aid. Face coverings are optional for Guests in outdoor areas.
Thereof, how long are the lines at Disneyland today?
Since reopening, wait times have averaged 25 minutes at Disneyland from May 2021 to January 2022 compared to 23 minutes during the same period in 2019 and 2020, according to Thrill Data. DCA wait times rose to 27 minutes in 2021 and 2022 from 26 minutes during same period in 2019 and 2020.
Is Disney crowded right now?
Crowds are TOO high – 63%
It is positive that 15% have experienced quieter days where crowds have been manageable. An obvious reason why we are seeing such busy parks is likely due to the welcome return of nightly firework displays to Magic Kingdom and EPCOT back in October 2021.
May at Disney World starts off with low crowds that pick up for the busy summer travel season, which unofficially kicks off Memorial Day weekend.
It’s a rare thing, but it’s true—Disneyland can reach capacity and in 2021, capacity does not mean 100% full. The new reservation system ensures Disneyland is fully staffed and prepared for the number of guests they expect on any given day. You can see the Disneyland availability calendar here.
UPDATE: Disneyland has substantially increased capacity, and crowds are already back to normal levels. Fully reopened theme parks are grappling with long lines and big summer season crowds — except for Disneyland.
(Virtual queues will remain in place and will remain complimentary to use.) Love them or hate them, virtual lines at Disneyland are here, and they are a tool the park can use to allow guests to enjoy the rest of the park’s attractions, restaurants, restrooms, etc., instead of standing in long lines.
As a general matter, Animal Kingdom is the park that requires the least strategy and is the easiest place to beat the crowds in all of Walt Disney World.
Part of the reason that the parks are so crowded today is definitely that it’s a holiday weekend. Many people will have Presidents Day (February 21st) off from work or school, so it’s a good time to take a quick Disney trip.
There are a few reasons why… The biggest reason is Disneyland’s introduction of the Magic Key program, which is its replacement for Annual Passes. Magic Keys launched a few months ago, and already have dramatically changed the crowd dynamic at Disneyland and Disney California Adventure during that time.
