What do you love about Disney?

Most of my summer vacations with my family as a child were taking a road trips to Disneyland. We were only five hours away and the excitement of getting there in the car was half the fun. My husband grew up going to Disney World and some of his best childhood memories also came from family Disney vacations. We met on a blind date and knew instantly we were perfect for each other when we discovered each other’s love for Disney. Well before we had our daughter, we had annual passes and frequently drove from Arizona to California to visit Disneyland. I specifically recall a conversation where we discussed the age we would bring our first child to the park. We said we would definitely wait until she was old enough to remember her first time at Disneyland. Several years later our daughter was only nine months old and loving her first spin on the Teacups.

At just four years old she has been to Disneyland hundreds of times and could navigate herself through the park. I love Disney because of the amazing memories our family has been able to create and knowing there will be so many more in our future. Whether it be a quick visit to Disneyland, a week spent in Disney World, or a few nights on a Disney cruise I know we are guaranteed unforgettable amazing memories.

Which Disney park is your favorite and why?

This is definitely a debatable topic in our house. My husband grew up very comfortable in Disney World while I was on the other side of the country having fun in Disneyland.  We both have our favorites at each park but we both also still have our own favorite location. My favorite Disney park is definitely Disneyland but I’m sure my husband would claim his favorite as Disney World.  I am still drawn to the comfort of a park I could navigate with my eyes closed. Our daughter’s favorite park is Disneyland because she has celebrated every birthday there. We recently celebrated her fourth birthday and had an amazing experience. Visit Brie Brie Blooms if you would like to read more about how we made her day extra special.

If it was only my husband and I visiting Disneyland, we would ride Space Mountain hundreds of times. Our daughter is just tall enough for most of the rides and her current favorite is Thunder Mountain. She has a new favorite ride every few months but for today, if you gave us the ability to ride over and over, you would definitely find us on Thunder Mountain.

Which Disney movie do your kids enjoy the most…and which one do YOU love the most!

Like her mommy, my daughter is a huge fan of Cinderella. Most of her preschool aged friends are big fans of Brave and she recently has started talking about the characters at home. She alternates between asking to watch Cinderella and Brave daily. I love that she asks to watch Cinderella with me when she wants to cuddle and share popcorn.

If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why?

If I could be any character I would be Ariel. Who wouldn’t want to be a beautiful mermaid with a beautiful voice that gets to marry a very handsome prince? She’s a sassy princess that went after what she wanted and saw all her dreams come true.

What is your favorite Disney memory?

We took our daughter on her first Disney cruise last year just after her third birthday. Our first evening on the cruise we attended The Golden Mickeys, a show that welcomed guests with a red carpet. The presenter interviewed our daughter just before we walked into the theater. It wasn’t until after the show we learned the interview was playing live in the theater with hundreds of guests watching. Our daughter was adorable proclaiming her love for Cinderella in a moment we will always call a favorite.

What do you love about Disney? I love that the magic of Disney touches everyone no matter how young or old you are. My family took our first cruise on The Disney Magic last year and it amazed me how everyone from babies to their retired grandparents were equally excited when Mickey walked in the room. It was magical for my daughter to meet Cinderella in person (her favorite princess) and see her on stage during the evening shows but it was even more magical for me to see her face light up when Cinderella hugged her. We were both crying tears of happiness!

Which Disney park is your favorite and why? I went to DisneyWorld in Florida when I was a teenager with my family and then to Disneyland in California with my husband when we graduated from college. Both were special and so much fun. As a parent, taking my kids on the Disney Cruise was one of the best experiences we’ve had together as a family and we are beyond THRILLED to be planning our first trip together to DisneyWorld in May (ssshhh – the kids don’t know yet…it’s a surprise!!) We are going to tell them at Easter through an Easter Egg Hunt with trading pins and clues that lead to a map of all the DisneyWorld parks with a big sign that says “You’re going to Disney!” I think the special ways parents tell their kids they are going to Disney (and the excitement of the weeks/days leading up to the trip) is almost as fun as actually going. ALMOST!

Which Disney ride would we see your family ride over and over (without lines of course)? My husband and I have been planning our trip and pouring over books,
blogs and brochures of all the fun things we know the kids will love. Our seven-year-old daughter Annie will be glued to Cinderella’s castle and is going to flip over the rides in Fantasyland at Magic Kingdom. Our son, Jackson, who is 11, is a thrill seeker. We know he’s going to “make us” take him many times on the Tower of Terror and the Rock and Roller Coaster at Hollywood Studios, Space Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain at Magic Kingdom and Test Track at Epcot. (Who am I kidding, there will be no arm twisting…my husband and I love thrill rides, too!) I am also personally excited to revisit some of the classics as well like the Dumbo ride, It’s a Small World and Pirates of the Caribbean. (I’m old-school/nostalgic like that!)

Which Disney movie do your kids enjoy the most…and which one do YOU love the most! We love them all. My kids have been raised with Disney. I have memories of my kids loving different Disney movies at different stages of their lives. I remember Jackson LOVED Toy Story when he was a toddler… he’d yell at the TV “Woody, get out of the street!” Annie loved Finding Nemo…it always made her giggle. I remember seeing Lady and the Tramp in the movie theatre when I was young! We all love Monsters Inc. (and can’t wait for the new one to come out!) as well as one of the newer princess movies, Tangled, because the music is so beautiful and the story is so fun.

If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? That’s so hard! What girl wouldn’t love to be a princess though – right? I have short brown, hair and I can’t sing so I think it would be fun to be Aurora with her flowing blonde hair and beautiful voice. Plus she’s awakened by her prince with true love’s kiss…it’s the classic fairy tale! (Although I’m living the dream with my own prince…my husband, Ed!)

Disneyland college Disney memory

What is your favorite Disney memory? I loved spending time with my soon-to-be husband at Disneyland in 1993 having recently earned my BA. It was such a carefree time. But my favorite would have to be experiencing Disney on the cruise with my kids. Watching them trade pins with the ship’s captain, meet Mickey and Minnie, swim with dolphins….every moment was so special. And I know that it’s going to be even more spectacular at DisneyWorld! You can check out highlights from our trip and how to pack/prepare for a Disney Cruise.

What do you love about Disney? I LOVE the magic you feel when at Disneyland. You know the feeling you get when walking through the gates and seeing main street for the first time?!

Which Disney park is your favorite and why? Oh this is hard! I am loving California Adventure lately and it holds a special place in my heart since my husband and I got to go to a preview opening on our honeymoon! But there’s just something about Disneyland…

Which Disney ride would we see your family ride over and over (without lines of course)? We talk about our favorite rides all the time and it’s SO hard to choose we love Toy Story Mania and Buzz Lightyear because we can compete against each other.

Which Disney movie do your kids enjoy the most…and which one do YOU love the most! Right now the boys’ favorite is The Muppets and I might have to agree with them. Although I’ve always been a Little Mermaid fan!

If you could be any Disney character, who would you be and why? I’ve always had a secret wish to be Cinderella at Disneyland. If I could be one though I think I’d be Merida – love her spirit (and accent)

What is your favorite Disney memory? When my kids were 10 months and 2 I was pushing them in the stroller and we had stopped on the side to get something out of the diaper bag. Cinderella had just come out and knelt down to talk to the boys in the stroller. My 2 year old offered her some of the cereal he was eating and even though I quickly told him it was ok she ate some lol! Then she called Prince Charming over to share the snack. It was such a personal fun experience.
